Kilwins is famous for our hand-made chocolate—from chocolate bars to toffee to caramel apples and more. Our clusters and bark have a satisfying crunch, and the truffles are smooth and creamy. The caramel apples we serve earn their name of “perfect”—made from Granny Smith apples and hand-dipped in caramel-filled copper kettles.
Perhaps the most famous item on our Hilton Head Island menu is our Mackinac Island Fudge, which we take from old-fashioned copper kettles to pour on cold marble slabs. Our Mackinac Island Fudge and chocolates are made from our original 1940s recipe: At Kilwins, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing the old-fashioned ways of making desserts.
Our store also has a wide selection of ice cream, which is made with Kilwins’s original recipe. Whether you want a scoop of classic chocolate or vanilla or our unique limited-edition flavors, Kilwins is the answer.

Kilwins was founded by Don and Katy Kilwin over 70 years ago. They wanted to share their passion for candy-making with everyone, which led them to start the first Kilwins back in 1947. From the moment they created their first batch of chocolate, they knew they had something special. Over the years, Kilwins has grown into the confectionery we know today.
At Kilwins, we’re proud of our tradition of handcrafting every piece down to the tiniest detail. Our methods and our recipes remain the same as Don and Katy’s. We watch over every part of the process, from cocoa beans to hand-dipping and decorating. Doing everything ourselves allows us to present the best end product and make sure everything is up to the very high Kilwins standard.
Kilwins has three main principles that guide our every action: treat people the way you want to be treated, do your best, and have fun while doing so. These have been our guiding principles that help us grow our menu and our dedicated customer base.

Ice cream must be handled carefully, so our team went above and beyond to ensure that every step of the process is monitored and controlled.
